| A Perfect Ten: Big Dog Motorcycles’® Tenth Year Proves To Be The Most Successful | ||
| Big Dog Motorcycles®, the leader in the high performance, highly-styled cruiser niche and the second largest American V-twin motorcycle manufacturer, launches its 11th model year of motorcycles with a look back on its history as well as its tenth year in the industry: Record sales, record production, factory and employee growth, its 10,000th motorcycle, and much more. “This string of successes and achievements comes down to the fact that we have created a first-rate team of employees, suppliers, and dealers that has shown tremendous enthusiasm, passion, and commitment,” stated Sheldon Coleman, company founder and CEO. Coleman, who simply wanted a better bike for himself, built the first Big Dog motorcycle in his garage ten years ago. Big Dog Motorcycle Number One was a 1994 Vintage Classic, a nostalgic, custom cruiser built to satisfy an individual need. “I wanted something that had more styling, performance, and individuality than the available factory bikes. And it just wasn’t out there,” he said. Today, the company employs nearly 350, has enjoyed year after year of record sales, and ships over 100 bikes a week to its network of nearly 100 dealers. What started as a single, customized V-twin motorcycle has evolved into the leader of today’s turnkey custom bike manufacturers. Now, with a line of motorcycles assembled with exclusive, proprietary components, Big Dog Motorcycles has distanced itself from its competition and has achieved celebrated OEM status. “The company has exceeded my wildest expectations,” stated Coleman, “I had no idea even two years ago that we would be where we are today. Our strategy is simple: Keep our focus on building great motorcycles and maintain our dedication to our customers, dealers, and employees.” A Few Words From The Staff Kelvin Kirschbaum, production manager and long-time employee, also described Big Dog Motorcycles’ beginnings, “It was a company with no goals in a two-car garage with five people working. That lasted for only a few months. Now, it’s a large, professional and organized company. There are higher goals, more stress, and a lot more fun. There is much more of a challenge but it is still the best place in the world to work.” Kirschbaum, known as Mohawk to his colleagues, has been with Big Dog Motorcycles almost since its inception. He recently celebrated his tenth year anniversary. | ||
