| Big Dog Motorcycles Provides POW/MIA Pitbull To Benefit Run For The Wall Foundation | ||
| Big Dog Motorcycles, the leading designer and manufacturer of high performance, highly-styled heavyweight cruisers, and John Scott, a Wichita POW/MIA activist, are honoring veterans by providing a special edition 2004 POW/MIA Pitbull to benefit the national Run For The Wall Foundation. The rigid cruiser, laser black with ghost flames graphics on the tank and fenders and the well-recognized POW/MIA insignia painted prominently on the dash, will make the annual ten-day journey across the country with thousands of riders toward the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC starting May 19. The bike will be given away on Memorial Day, May 31. Following the Run For The Wall’s central route – from Ontario, California to the nation’s capital – the trailered motorcycle will make a dozen stops. At each stop, activists, supporters, and enthusiasts can get an opportunity to win the bike for a $20 donation to the POW/MIA Run For The Wall Foundation, which benefits families of Prisoners of War or those Missing in Action with scholarships, housing, and other financial assistance. “As America continues to battle the war on terror, it is important for all of us to appreciate those men and women, from this war and others, who ensure our freedom, opportunities, and security is intact,” stated Nick Messer, Big Dog Motorcycles’ president. “Everyone who has fought for America, or has friends or families who have fought for America, deserve to be honored and thanked every day. We hope this motorcycle will help do just that.” John Scott added, “As a whole, you’ll never find a group of people who care more about our veterans, prisoners of war, soldiers missing or killed in action, and our country’s freedom as much as motorcycle riders. We look forward to their support in this cause as we make this year’s run.” Since its introduction in 1997, Big Dog Motorcycles’ Pitbull has continuously been a top-seller. The 2004 model, like all the company’s cruisers, comes standard with a 107 cu.in. engine, 6-speed transmission, PM brakes, and exclusive proprietary components. The bike also has a super fat 250-rear tire and a low ground clearance of just over four inches for extra attitude. About Run For The Wall Run For The Wall started in 1989 by two Vietnam veterans who traveled across America on motorcycles talking to local radio, TV, and newspapers about the thousands of men and women still unaccounted for from all wars. The tradition, continuing every May, starts in Ontario, California and ends in Washington, DC. The trip takes two routes (Central and Southern), ten days, and ends with an awe-inspiring parade of 300,000 motorcycles from the Pentagon to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Along the way, motorcycle riders and other participants of all ages make stops at memorials, rallies, community events, and veterans hospitals to promote healing among veterans and their families and friends, to call for an accounting of all Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action, and to honor the memory of those Killed in Action.
